By Patricia Weatherly How many teens out in the world have dreamed of rolling into the school parking lot in their first car? Where do these teens get these cars? Some get their car as a gift, some get theirs online, some get theirs from individuals, and some get theirs from a dealership. Tickets for East Central College Theatre’s upcoming production of Legally Blonde are now on sale. Performances are set for 8 p.m. Thursday – Saturday, February 18 – 20. The production wraps up Sunday, February 21, with a 2 o’clock matinee. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – Below is the text of the 2016 State of the State address, given tonight by Gov. I’m also delighted to be joined this evening by Missouri’s First Lady – my wonderful wife, Georganne, and our sons Jeremiah and Will. The JV/Varsity Boys Basketball game at Linn that was cancelled this past Tuesday evening has been rescheduled for this coming Saturday (Jan. 23). New Haven 6th Grade Girls played in the Immaculate Conception Tourney December 14th through the 18th. In their opening game they played St. Gertrudes and won by a score of 38 to 7. In their second game, they beat Borgia 42 to 20. This was a double elimination bracket and Borgia worked their way back to the Championship game against New Haven, and New Haven won by a score of 27 to 21 taking 1st Place in the tourney. By the 1980s, the shoes became a fashion statement and were available in dozens of colors. However, the fad eventually died out. Not surprisingly, by 2001, Converse became popular once again. Today, Converse is one of the most popular brands in the world. By LeeAnna Linton Colter James Wilson is a junior at New Haven High School. His birthday is August 23, 1998, and he is 17 years old. He is the son of Dennis and Sharon Wilson, and he has one brother, Christopher, who is twelve and in Ms. Unnerstall’s sixth grade class. Grace participates in basketball, track and student council. Her hobbies include gymnastics, photography and coloring. In the future, Grace would like to attend college and get a degree in physical therapy. Grace is the daughter of Michael and Carrie Faris. Congratulations Grace! By Rachel Connell What do you look forward to in 2016? Some people might answer that they look forward to their birthday in which they become another year older. Many students in high school are looking towards future years in which they obtain more freedom--such as getting a driver’s license or going to college. By Nate Offard Recently, flooding has caused major damage all across Missouri. Many have taken damage to their homes and businesses or were even forced out of their homes. Some people got lucky with a quick and easy clean up, while other lives were completely devastated. Entire homes were seen floating down rivers. In both Illinois and Missouri, deaths occurred. The December Student of the Month is junior Emma Eichelberger. Emma is the daughter of Jim and Gia Eichelberger. She is the junior class president and also active in basketball, FBLA, FCA, NHS, and band. Please note the following changes for a couple of upcoming JV/V basketball games:
1) Montgomery Co. can no longer field a JV girls team. Therefore, when we go to their place on Monday, January 18th, it will be a varsity only contest. The game time will remain at 6:00 pm and the bus will leave at 4:25. 2) When Chamois comes here on Friday, January 22nd for JV and Varsity boys games, they will only be able to play 2 quarters of JV. The start time will remain at 6:00 pm. “Tonight’s decision is disappointing, and a clear deviation from the NFL’s guidelines. It is troubling that the league would allow for the relocation of a team when a home market has worked in good faith and presented a strong and viable proposal. This sets a terrible precedent not only for St. Louis, but for all communities that have loyally supported their NFL franchises. |
